To become a Private Pilot in Europe (PPL) you need a Medical
Class 2 (JAR-FCL 3)
For this Medical Examination You should be fit, have good eyesight and hearing,
and have no current or previous illness which might interfere with the safe
operation of an aircraft.
The initial medical examination must be done at an Aeromedical Centre (AMC)
or by an Aeromedical Examiner Class 1 or 2.
Examinaton Program:
- Physical Examination
- Neurological Examination
- Electrocardiogram (ECG)
- Lung Function Test (spirometry)
- Eye Examination
- Ears Examination
- Laboratory Tests
- Further Examination and tests if indicated
your physical examination should be able to tell you whether all seems
normal. If the results are satisfactory, your medical certificate will be
issued on the same day.
IMPORTANT
We check your ocular fundus with a modern fundus camera.
It is not necessary, to drip your pupils wide.
In some special cases we need to drip your pupils,
in such a case you cannot drive a car or fly an aircraft for 2 hours.
Validity of Medical Certificates Class 1
60 calender-months if an airman has not reached age 40
24 calender-months if an airman has not reached age 60
12 calender-months if an airman is age 60 or over
